Zelenskyy commented on Tehran’s new threats regarding an incident with their vessel and responded whether he was concerned about the possibility of an Iranian attack on Ukraine.
In an interview with Sky News journalist, he emphasized that Iran had long attacked Ukraine by supplying Russia with “Shahed” drones, technologies for their production, and other armaments.
“Iran provided Russia with a new base, new technologies in the first year of the war. These were Shahed drones. They supplied thousands of these drones in the first year of the war. And then they provided licenses. What did they do? Did they attack us? I think so,” the president said.

Zelenskyy stressed that a new front must not be opened, but it must be considered that both Iran and North Korea are already effectively participating in the war.
“We must be cautious. We must do everything not to open a new front under any circumstances. But we must be honest: the Iranians and North Koreans have already attacked us,” he stated.
The president noted that he hopes Iran will not escalate attacks, but “one must be prepared for anything.”
“We cannot trust these people because, from the very beginning, without any escalation on our part, the Iranians supplied weapons (to Russia),” the president pointed out.
Conflict Between Ukraine and Iran
Earlier, Iran accused Ukraine of attacking one of its vessels in the Caspian Sea. Iran stated that an explosion occurred as a result of the attack in the Caspian Sea, which resulted in the death of one sailor and injuries to another.
Tehran called the attack on the vessel an “act of aggression” and declared that it would defend its national interests and security. The Iranian Foreign Ministry summoned the interim charge d’affaires of Ukraine in Tehran.
Later, Iranian Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi, during phone calls with the head of EU foreign policy Kaja Kallas and Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov, stated that the Ukrainian attack on the Iranian merchant ship “cannot go unanswered.”
