US President Donald Trump made a sensational statement, claiming that Kuwait had previously failed to properly operate American Patriot air defense systems.
This is reported in Trump’s statement at the White House, as quoted by ClashReport.
According to the American president, several American aircraft were shot down during the incident due to so-called “friendly fire.”
“Kuwait shot down three of our planes – effectively the only ones we lost. It’s called ‘friendly fire,’ but I would call it unfriendly,” he said.
Trump also noted that the reason was insufficient training.
“They, unfortunately, did not know how to use our excellent Patriot systems,” he said.
Trump cited the words of one of the pilots who, during the attack, was allegedly trying to identify the type of missile.
“The pilot said, ‘What kind of missile is flying at us?’ – ‘Patriot.’ Boom – and it was all over,” Trump explained.
As a reminder, earlier US President Donald Trump announced his intentions to help Iranian protesters by sending them “a lot of weapons.” According to him, some of the armaments did not reach their destination, and intermediaries kept them for themselves.
It also became known how many aircraft the US lost during the operation against Iran.
In particular, on March 2, Kuwaiti air defense systems, due to “friendly fire,” shot down three US F-15 fighter jets. All six crew members managed to eject safely. The US Department of Defense stated that three pilots have already returned to combat duty.
In total, as of early April 2026, the United States has lost at least seven aircraft during the military operation against Iran.
