Firefighters and animal control officers collaborated in Ohio to save a dog that was trapped in a drainage water basin near Lake Erie.
Cleveland Animal Care and Control were dispatched on Tuesday after reports indicated the dog had ventured into the drainage basin and seemed too frightened to return.
ACC requested assistance from Cleveland Fire personnel.
“With a little assistance from some canine coaxing (beef flavor did the trick!), they managed to gently lure her out, fit her with a harness, and bring her to safety,” ACC stated on social media.
A microchip scan revealed the dog’s owner’s details. The owner had been actively looking for the lost pet.
“Thanks to the cooperation between departments, along with considerable patience and care, this situation concluded with the most desirable outcome – a joyous reunion,” the post concluded.
